Banners are typically long and narrow, made from large bundles of willow. They can hang at any angle. Shields are made from smaller, shorter bundles of willow. They hang vertically with an accordian-like structure. The smaller bundles allow the wall to show through the piece and become an integrated background for the shield.

Since these pieces are made from natural materials, the look and shape and color of the willows varies with availability. The pieces in the gallery are meant as examples only. The best place to see what is available currently is to visit me at one of my art shows. See my exhibition schedule.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"I mean to celebrate the creative urge, evoking images of decorative war shields, shelters, masks, body painting, adornments and early signs, carvings and tools. The juxtaposition of primitive and contemporary symbolizes our inner connectedness with earlier times, when the spiritual journey was the measure of a life."
